When the lights go out, many people reach for candles. But fire services regularly warn about candle fires during power cuts. LED torches are a much safer choice.

Why LED torches are safer

  • No flame, so no fire risk.
  • Safe around children and pets.
  • Brighter than candles, so you are less likely to trip.
  • Can be carried around the house safely.
  • Rechargeable models like our searchlight and head torches save on batteries.

If you do use candles

  • Never leave them unattended.
  • Keep them away from curtains, furniture and anything that can burn.
  • Put them on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep them out of reach of children and pets.
  • Put them out before you go to sleep.

Check your smoke alarms work too. Most are battery powered, so they should keep working in a power cut.
